Bird Cages

It’s important to choose the right cage for your bird/s. As small birds fly sideways rather than up and down, you should consider cages that are wider rather than taller.

The wider the better, especially if the bird/s are going to spend a lot of time in the cage, as they will need room to fly and exercise.

Small cages are more suitable for birds that will be let out of the cage often to fly around a room and only need the cage to feed in or keep them safe overnight, or to stop them flying out of the house.

Other things to consider a covered food trays so that bird droppings do not fall into their food.

Slide out trays at the bottom, so that they can be cleaned easily.

Also consider cages with large openings so that they are easy for you to get access to the inside easily, aiding cleaning.

If you are going to keep more than one bird, then obviously you will need a larger cage than if you were to keep one bird. However, it is better to but the largest cage you can afford as this gives you the scope to add more if you should change your mind and if you decide to keep one after all, then your single bird would benefit from having the additional room anyway.
