Month 4

By the time they reach 4 months old, parents have started to learn their babies’ personalities. They can tell when their babies are going to want something before they start to make a fuss.
They can play on the floor on a blanket with some toys at this age, as long as the room is warm and there are no draughts.
They are now able to:
• Lift up their head and chest when laid on their tummy attempting to move
• They can also roll over from their tummy on to their back, and vice versa
• They squeal, smile and laugh
• Also stand when held
• They also taste test everything that is in close reach. So everything needs to be extra clean, in case it ends up in their mouth. Also keep away small objects that could choke them.
• They now react eagerly to seeing a feeding bottle etc when it is feeding time
• They also have distinctive cries for fear, discomfort, pain, and even loneliness which are more obvious to tell apart.
• Hold up their head at a 90 degree angle.
• They can also track object through a 180 degree arc
• They can be pulled up to a sitting position, but their backs and necks are not strong enough to support them in a sitting position yet.
