How to Stop an Over 3 Months Old Baby from Crying

If your baby is healthy, has been fed, is dry and is not tired, then there is usually only one reason for their cries – BOREDOM!!!

In order to deal with boredom cries, (which usually sound like fussing and whining), try some of the following to give your child a distraction and also rest your ears.

1. Baby sling – These are a saviour when you have things to do but baby wants to be entertained.
Put your baby in a baby sling, facing outwards preferably, (although if they are very young, facing you and resting on your chest will work just as well – because the sound of your heart beat will soothe them). Then do the things you want to do, like light tidying up, etc. without any fussing from them. Your movement and closeness along with the new experiences they see will stop the crying. If they are older this will keep them entertained and help them learn new things too.
2. Go outside or stand by an open window so that baby can feel a breeze on their face. The change in atmosphere often distracts them from the crying. Even better get more fresh air by putting them in their buggy and going for a walk. Talk to them as you walk about. The movement of the buggy seeing new things and hearing your voice as you talk about what you can see will take care of the crying and even help them learn new things on the way.
3. Have a dance – Play different types of music to your baby to see what they like. (Most like music with a strong beat, like rock and pop or even nursery rhymes with a repetitive rhythm). Dance around the room to music, to develop their rhythm and entertain them too.
4. Place them under a play gym, so that they can exercise themselves and also be entertained by all the dangly toys, lights or sounds.
5. Depending on their age, give them access to baby toys to play with, music box, rattles etc.
