Contract Termination Letters

As well as taking children on, there will come a time when they will have to leave you.
In your contract there should either be an end date, but if this is not stated, then there should be a specified amount of time that is given, to terminate the contract.
For example, you may want to be given 2 to 4 weeks’ written notice before a child leaves. This allows you to arrange for another child to take their place, ensuring regular cash flow.
Sometimes, the unexpected happens and parents just up and leave, or you may allow them to end a contract immediately, especially if relationships between you and the child / parent breaks down.
Whatever the circumstances, it is always good practice to write a letter of termination and to send the parents and keep a copy for yourself too.
This is to ensure if anyone asks, you have a record that the child has left your care.
