Traditionally an Italian food, pasta is a noodle made from flour and water or eggs. This can be boiled or baked in a variety of dishes from pasta bakes, lasagnes to bolognaises.

It comes in different shapes and colours depending on what has been added to it.

It can be served as an accompaniment when mixed with a pasta suace or a main meal with meat or vegetables and with a salad.

Thin, stringy pastas goes well with pestos, while the thicker tomato sauces and cheese, go better with the chunkier pasta pieces.

Left over sauces can then be mopped up with garlic bread or dough balls.

Pastas are quick and easy to make. They can also be filling, nutritious main meals packed full of goodness or as a side.

They are so versatile with different types of pasta to choose from, there is no excuse to have the same meal over and over again.

Have them hot or cold.

They are a great comfort foods in winter or as part of a refreshing filling meal in the summer with a salad.
