During the second month parents start to work out a routine of when baby needs feeding, changing etc. This can vary but adds a bit more structure to the day. Babies will still wake up at night to feed, but as they stay awake for longer during the day, they begin to sleep for longer at night.
Infants can now:
• Track the movement of toys with their eyes
• Begin to make cooing noises instead of just crying and fussing
• Attempt to copy simple sounds like ‘oh’ or ‘ooh’ and ‘ah’
• Smile during interactions with people that talk to them
• They can now lift up their heads when lying on their tummy, but is not able to do so for long, and can get uncomfortable after a little while.
