During the third month of life, infants start to show a little more character and personality. They are able to take part in more social activities than a couple months ago.
Now they will start to:
• They can stiffen their legs as if trying to stand when feet are placed on a hard surface
• Reach for shiny or dangling objects
• Lift their heads up to about 45 degrees from the surface they were lying on
• Lift their head and chest when laid on their tummy in an attempt to move
• Kick energetically and move while awake to use up their energy
• Grasps toys and shakes small hand toys such as rattles
• Develop hand-eye coordination Imitate the sounds that they hear
• Recognizes people and start to develop trust for people they know and distrust of people they don’t know
• Attempt to clap
• Laugh and smile
• Watch and enjoy spiraling patterns
