Cut the fruit into equal sized pieces. If you cut the fruit into 2 pieces, tell them there are 2 halves. If you cut them into 4 pieces, tell them there are 4 quarters and so on.
6 pieces, will give you sixths, eight pieces will give you eighths and so on.
